Claiming the Age Pension or the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
As your nominee, we prepare and lodge your claim, follow it up and explain the outcome. You don't sign it.
As your Centrelink nominee, we prepare and lodge your claim for the Age Pension or the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, follow it up and explain the outcome. You don't sign it, and you don't sit on hold. Whether a claim fits your situation, and when, is part of your advice.
What we do
- Check your record. We compare what Centrelink holds with your fact find, and correct anything out of date first.
- Prepare the claim from your fact find, asking your funds and providers for the details Centrelink needs.
- Lodge it as your nominee. If your advice changes your super or investments, we usually lodge once that's in place.
- Follow it up until Centrelink responds, and answer any request for more information.
- Explain the outcome in plain words.
What we need from you
- Your Centrelink details form and documents, once, during onboarding. We only ask for what's missing.
- Occasionally Centrelink asks you to confirm your identity, or to fill in a form yourself, such as for a pension from another country. If so, we tell you exactly what to do.
What you'll hear, and when
- When we lodge: an email saying what we lodged and when.
- While we wait: if Centrelink asks for more, we tell you what's needed. We can't say how long Centrelink will take, but we keep following up, often several times a week.
- When Centrelink replies: we check the result against what we expected, ask Centrelink to correct it if it looks wrong, then explain it to you.
If a claim isn't granted, your adviser talks you through why, and whether anything else may apply.
Both ways of working
Claims work the same way on ongoing service and the Concierge. The difference is how long we stay on as your nominee afterwards. See Centrelink: how it works.
For anything about your own entitlements, talk to your adviser.
