Getting your ID certified

We need certified ID for everyone who signs. Most people do it from home, with a few photos and a selfie.

Australian anti-money laundering law means we need certified ID for everyone who signs, attorneys included. Most people do it from home in a few minutes, with their phone, so there's no need to find a Justice of the Peace.

We need 100 points of ID, usually a driver's licence or passport plus your Medicare card. We'll tell you if anything more is needed.

Option 1: we certify it for you, from home

Our adviser certifies your documents remotely, from photos you send. Please send three things:

  1. A clear photo or scan of your ID, with all four corners showing, no glare and good light. Your phone's scan setting works well.
  2. A clear photo or scan of each document that needs certifying, such as your power of attorney.
  3. A selfie holding your ID next to your face, so we can confirm it's you.

Use our secure upload page, which is the safest way, or email or text them to us. Once they're certified, we file them on your record and let you know.

Option 2: you arrange it

Take your original documents and your ID to one of these people:

  • Justice of the Peace (JP)
  • Solicitor
  • Notary public
  • Police officer
  • Bank official or bank manager
  • Accountant

Ask them to check each original against your copy, then sign and stamp the copy as a "true copy of the original", with their name, position, contact details and the date. Send us the certified copies in any of the ways above.

Both options give the same result. Not sure which suits you? Text us and we'll help you decide.
